Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock and officially gazetted as Uluru / Ayers Rock, is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in Australia. It lies 335 km (208 mi) south west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs.



Yulara is a town in the Southern Region of the Northern Territory, Australia. It lies as an unincorporated enclave within MacDonnell Region. At the 2016 census, Yulara had a permanent population of 1,099, in an area of 103.33 square kilometres (39.90 sq mi). It is 18 kilometres (11 mi) by road from world heritage site Uluru (Ayers Rock) and 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). It is located in the Northern Territory electorate of Gwoja and the federal electorate of Lingiari.

Yulara has its own airport, called Ayers Rock / Connellan Airport AYQ. Ayers Rock Airport is conveniently located just six kilometres (3.5 miles) from Voyages Ayers Rock Resort – a quick 10-minute drive. Services available at the airport include car hire services, gift shop, Cafe, and a viewing area. The nearest large town, Alice Springs is 450 km away.You can fly directly to Yulara from Alice Springs.

Ayers Rock Airport (also known as Connellan Airport is situated near Yulara, around 463 km (288 mi) (5 hrs drive) away from Alice Springs, Northern Territory, and 20 minutes drive from Uluru (Ayers Rock) itself. An average of just under 300,000 passengers pass through this airport each year.
