Tourists gather in the shade on a guided tour around the base of Uluru. The local Aboriginal community prefer people not to climb this sacred site but most tourists make their way to the top for the desert view which includes the spectacular Kata Tjuta/The Olgas 25km to the west.

Aboriginal Art Work - <a href=

Ayers Rock (Uluru) “>

Here is an aboriginal painting of a spiral in a cave. Not so special in itself, but it represents a Water Pool, which was just located around the corner from the cave.

The climb on Uluru in 1992. Here a line of climbers can be seen making their way to the top against the blue sky along the top of the rock. Climbers are assisted by a chain fence part of the way up the first section. The local Aboriginal community prefer people not to climb this sacred site but most tourists make their way to the top for the desert view which includes the spectacular Kata Tjuta/The Olgas 25km to the west.
